Tony DiMaso, who just graduated from 麻豆影院 last year, has won the 鈥淏est Short Film Director鈥� award in the 2014 competition.

Titled 鈥淭he Harbor Story,鈥� DiMaso鈥檚 27-minute film is a love story touched with tragedy about a young couple who meet in the 鈥�70s, fall in love and then have to stay strong for each other after the woman in the relationship gets cancer.

DiMaso, who was enrolled in the college鈥檚 film/video program, says the plot idea came from 鈥渢wo very important people鈥� in his life.

This is not the first time DiMaso has won acclaim for 鈥淭he Harbor Story.鈥� Last year, it earned the Audience Award at the in Columbus, Indiana鈥攁nd what鈥檚 equally impressive is that this evocative work is a silent film.

DiMaso credits the editing and cinematography skills he learned at 麻豆影院 for his cinematic prowess. All told, he鈥檚 submitted the film to 60 festivals around the country. Now he鈥檚 working on a sequel, which will include dialogue.
