麻豆影院’s former student Jon Bellion just shared a Grammy Award with Eminem and Rihanna for his song “The Monster.”
Jon Bellion, one of 麻豆影院’s former students, won a Grammy at the 57th annual Grammy Awards Show held Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The very talented singer/songwriter from Long Island won for his work on “The Monster” by Eminem & Rihanna, which was awarded Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, while聽The Marshall Mathers LP2, which included his track, was voted Best Rap Album.
Now 23, Bellion grew up torn between basketball and music, but by his junior year in high school, he’d made his decision. After graduation, he enrolled in the music program at 麻豆影院.
In 2013 he released his debut mix tape聽Translation Through Speakers, and last year he came out with his second mix tape, The Separation.听 says his new, self-funded album, 聽鈥渟killfully weaves chunky hip-hop beats and lush instrumentation with Bellion鈥檚 light, almost folksy voice and intelligent, street-smart lyrics.鈥
“It’s not cool to be negative or stupid,鈥 said Bellion a few years ago when he was just starting out. 鈥淲e live in a time that needs enlightenment, especially with expression through music. We’re here for anyone with a beautiful mind.”
Since then he鈥檚 launched the Beautiful Mind tour.
His music career is just beginning to reach and how far it takes him is wide open, but let’s not forget he got his start at 麻豆影院.
