The �鶹ӰԺ Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Peter Philip DeSalvo, will present a program of serious wind band literature. The ensemble is comprised of outstanding �鶹ӰԺ students and several local music educators to round out the instruments needed for this challenging and interesting music.��The FTC Wind Ensemble will also feature a guest artist, Douglas Jones, principal tuba of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, located at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia.��This performance is not to be missed!

This week, every year, members of the �鶹ӰԺ community are reminded of the legacy of Lorraine Kleinman Cohen. Even her husband, Dr. Stanley Cohen, has called her the inspiration for the genesis of this small niche college. As we wallow in the emptiness left by her after 11 years, acknowledging her impact as a teacher, educator and pioneer in the world of higher education renews her spirit and gives meaning to the things we do here at �鶹ӰԺ.

The mission & raison d’etre of �鶹ӰԺ did not spring out of nowhere. It originated in the heart & soul of one fine woman-someone who many said really had it all in her lifetime; perhaps, she did. We were inspired to be like her, wise like her, gentle & witty like her. But one of her most endearing qualities turns out was especially rare . . . she exuded a warmth and congeniality that is not felt so often. This is a unique feeling that is authentic; it relates and creates a distinctive bond between individuals.

So, as members of the FTC community move around campus educating, collaborating, and delving deep into curriculum and learning outcomes, let’s try to emulate one of our founders. Let’s try to relate authentically with one another and continue to create an environment that is warm & comfortable for all. And, let’s remember the heart & soul of Lorraine Kleinman Cohen. In the world of higher education, we are privileged to walk the same hallways as this inspirational leader. Let’s remain thankful that she touched our lives & left us a legacy to really be proud of . . . complete with residence halls!!

Written in the 1960s, Marc Camoletti’s play is hilarious and promises to keep the audience laughing all night long. ��Dazzling the crowd will be the �鶹ӰԺ Theater Arts Division students directed by Professor James Beneduce and colleagues. The Guinness Book of Records included Boeing, Boeing as the most performed French play in the world!

While juggling may be a cool circus trick, this comedy follows the dating escapades of a French bachelor engaged to three women, stewardesses; each one thinks she is the only one in his life. Starring in the lead role is Ian-Josef Benhart, a FTC sophomore and film major. Freshman Noah League stars as his visiting friend who causes a little trouble on arrival. FTC juniors Dayna Johns, Amelis Escalante and Renee Shubert make star-studded performances as well, as does Krystie Gill, a sophomore. These students have practiced tirelessly to bring this world-renowned play to life this weekend.

It will be a night of fun and enjoyment as the revolving door opens and closes right here on the stage in the FTC Performing Arts Center. So, come fly with us-as they say in the industry-or, at least, sit back and buckle up, as the charades will cause you to chuckle all evening.

Godspell��is a fun-filled musical written by Stephen Schwartz;��the��book��was written��by John-Michael��Tebelak.��On May 17, 1971, it opened Off-Broadway. It��has��toured��and��was��made into a revival ever since��then. In 2011,��the��Godspell��revival made its way��to Broadway! It lasted almost a year and��was��released over the years for all theaters to use. One of the show’s songs, “Day by Day,” even reached #13 on the Billboard pop singles chart in 1972.

This musical is about a series of parables��i.e. short stories that teach a moral or spiritual lesson,��based mainly on the Gospel of Matthew. The parables are dressed up by improvisation and a variety of modern music set to fit with the passion of Christ.��Throughout the show, Judas, played by��FTC student,��Londel Collier, and Jesus, played by��FTC student,��Domenic Pellegrini,��are��never on the same page. Judas believes he can always beat out Jesus;��unfortunately,��in the end all of the disciples turn on Jesus.

This production of��Godspell,��is directed by��the esteemed and very talented��Professor��Marie Danvers.��Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.

Without a doubt Benny Goodman was one of the most incredible clarinet players who ever lived.

But he also deserves recognition as one of the greatest contributors to American music.

His extensive touring and 28 albums made him a living jazz legend around��the world. Wherever he went, the King of Swing set the Earth in motion.

From his earliest small group recordings through his swingin’ big bands of the 1930s and later, Benny Goodman was a master of his instrument��and a bandleader admired by musicians and non-musicians alike.

His quicksilver tone, his insistent drive to swing the music, his ability to execute the most dramatic filigrees of passages – all these qualities made him one of the most influential��instrumentalists of the 20th century.

Felix & The Cats present this music true to form, putting the zing��back into Swing, playing it fresh and improvisational as it was meant to be played.
